Gaming on Linux

There aren't as many game variations available on Linux as there are on Windows. But that doesn't mean you can't game on Linux! Steam is available on almost all Linux GUI distributions, from Debian-based to Fedora-based systems.
Games you can play
Any game on Steam that is compatible with the Steam Deck can also be played on a Linux distro. This is because the Steam Deck uses Linux as its base operating system. For example, I happily run Elden Ring and Dota 2 on my Fedora 42 workstation. If you're comfortable using the Steam store, you'll find a wide variety of games to enjoy on Linux — including many free ones.
Games you can't play
Some games, like Apex Legends, have dropped their support for Linux (booo). The developers hinted this was due to too many cheaters using the Linux version. I'm not into cheating myself, but if that's your thing... well, whatever floats your boat!
Summary
Yes, you can absolutely play games on Linux, and hopefully we'll see even more compatibility in the future!
